Radio man quits in racism row

Outspoken radio presenter James H Reeve stormed out of his BBC job after he was accused of using racist language on air.
The host of the Greater Manchester Radio lunchtime show said he was hauled before station bosses after a phone-in about a shock poster campaign launched by

the Commission for Racial Equality.
He said he was told that during the discussion he had used a racist word in a "gratuitous" manner.
Mr Reeve handed in his resignation and yesterday listeners tuned in to the noon to 2.30pm slot, which the broadcaster has hosted

for more than three years, to hear one of his colleagues presenting the show.
Mr Reeve said: "I was asked into the gaffer's office but was not given the opportunity to defend myself.
"I've spent the last12 years fighting racism by confronting it on my radio programmes."
